beeld en beton is an atelier dedicated to creating honest and meaningful architectural and graphic design. The aim is to bring design back to the human scale and create something for all of us: the planet, the user, and the passer-by. The work is guided by a pragmatic approach. While expressive, it emerges from small gestures and humble intentions.
beeld en beton was founded by Diederik van Leeuwen in 2024. To present one’s work under a single name is to neglect the fact that architects never work alone. We collaborate. I wanted to distance myself from the single-author identity that is still dominant within the field of architecture. Hence the name: beeld en beton.
